The General George Washington sentry tree for years preserved at Valley Forge at a great cost, and three scrapbook pages, 1943.

The collection contains the typescript photocopy of Barr's account of acquiring and distributing pieces of the remains of the chestnut tree in Strafford, Pa., reputed to be where George Washington posted a sentry at the time of the Paoli Massacre, with letters and articles about Barr. Also, three pages of a scrapbook containing a reproduction of a painting (Washington Praying for Victory, Valley Forge, Pa.), a photograph of the downed chestnut tree, a piece of the tree, and a photograph of the public presentation to Captain O'Donnell, Battery C, Phoenixville, Pa. of a copy of the painting in a frame made from the chestnut wood.
